Reviews for THE SHOPKEEPER STORE, GREAT DUNMOW

Their French style knives are razer sharp, as is their fashion sense. Parking at the pond. Ian set me up very nicely for my new job requiring smart casual. Was surprisingly kid friendly - they sell a massive chocolate coin for £3. When you go to a small town like this you always hope to find a quality shop like this. Try to disregard the reviews from the online purchases.

This shop has lovely stock and it sounds a great place to visit in person but I wish I had heeded the reviews about ordering online. Pros: reasonable prices; once my order was sent it arrived very quickly; everything was beautifully wrapped. Cons: my order wasn’t dispatched for four days (and no communication as to the delay); of the two items I ordered, one was incorrect; no response to emails seeking to remedy the situation. All things considered, I wouldn’t shop here again (at least online). There are too many good independent retail businesses out there to take a risk on somewhere that doesn’t seem to have its processes in order.

After seeing their website going to a page cannot be displayed and social media saying page cannot be found shortly after placing the order it looked as though the person who left a review below was right about this being a scam. I don't think it is a scam, but more a disorganized drop-shipping company that buy in wholesale items from a company called continental clothing. They (both shopkeeper store and continental) advertise their products as ethical and GOTS certified / Oeko-tex certified and so forth but it is manufactured in China and no certification stamps of any sort on the label, so shall leave that open to interpretation. There was an email to say that there were difficulties with the order due to "technical problems" and an apology for this, however I would be reluctant to order again - not because of the suggestion of any malice or ill intent by the shopkeeper store, who did eventually dispatch the item, but more so because of the question of trade description, with them advertising a product as having OEKO-TEX stamp of approval that are not reflected in the end product which contains no such certification. The supplier are essentially saying that 100 percent of the cotton in the garment is certified, however the rest which is 20 percent recycled polyester and made in china, and then the garment itself assembled in china, obviously has no control then over aspects then which probably accounts for the lack of any certification on the label post-production which makes having some elements of it certified organic as pointless. Overall the Shopkeeper store will recover from their technical difficulties I'm sure, and the negative reviews prior I am sure however they need to be clear about what wholesale items they are selling, and what assurances they give to their customers are what their suppliers are delivering to their customers.

I never write reviews but have had such an awful experience with this shop. I made an online purchase a couple of months ago and after a month I still hadn't received my items. I sent numerous emails and called the store but didn't get a single reply. I had to eventually open up a paypal case which prompted Ian to finally email me back. Two items had been out of stock and he was waiting for new arrivals - I'm not sure why he couldn't have informed me at the time. The third item was permanently out of stock, so I was informed that he would refund this but it still hasn't come through! I just think it's such a shame as it's a lovely shop and I always try to support independent businesses, but this total lack of customer service is appalling!

I popped into the store today for the first time. I was very impressed with the store as a whole, everything is such a high quality. Ian was brilliant, very helpful. I purchased a couple of tops. Can’t wait to go back! Highly recommend!

Lovely Bugatti shirt but didn't really fit me, more man shaped. I asked to return it and my email was not replied to. I sent it back by Royal Mail and over a month later have had no refund or acknowledgment. Has the business gone bust? the phone doesn't answer either despite the website saying it is open today - Saturday 14th November.

To me a rare find outside a big city: a men's trendy clothing shop. And what a nice shop. I'm one of those men that pays attention to what I wear, always interested to find clothes that are not in the mainstream brands and are made with passion and style. We received great help from Ian, who encouraged and showed nice ideas, but never pushed; a rare find. Lovely shop, special and nice clothes. Will be back!

A fantastic bespoke retailer in Dunmow, with unique and high quality clothing and accessories for the home. The owner is faultlessly helpful and friendly and has an uncanny ability to source one-off items that you'd never see elsewhere. Being next to the wine shop means not walking too far to get everything a man might need!
